What's New with Open Text Fax Server (RightFax) Version 9.4

Open Text Fax Server (RightFax) enables significant cost reductions across the enterprise by eliminating the need for paper-based delivery and stand-alone fax machines as well as their associated maintenance, supply, equipment, and labor costs.  Open Text Fax Server solutions provide unrivaled reliability, scalability, and ease of use for IT staff and desktop users alike, and Open Text Fax Server 9.4 (the most recent release) provides the following added benefits over previous versions:

  

1.     Streamlined and Simplified Installation and Setup New installation and setup features include:

·         A new, single installation DVD

·         Enhanced Set Up options including:

o    Single Setup step for Fax Server 9.4 service accounts

o    Advanced database configuration page

o    Windows authentication defined at Setup

o    Port Reservations

·         Centralized Service Account Editor tool for service account configuration all in one place

 

2.     Unassisted online product licensing with Product Licensing Utility (PLU) – New PLU replaces legacy “bump” process for product licensing. Fully-integrated into the Setup program, it allows installers to activate Fax Server 9.4 during Setup. Adding, upgrading, or changing your feature set requires only your product licensing information and an active Internet connection.

 

3.     SQL service account Improvements to the Fax Server 9.4 SQL connection string editor provide a simple and convenient tool for modifying the SQL connection string and changing the database authentication method.

 

4.     Enhanced Reporting and Auditing SQL compatible reporting tool called Enterprise Fax Reporter replaces the legacy Fax Reporter program. It delivers improved SQL query performance, a new intuitive interface and 30 new built-in reports.

 

5.     Updated Server and System Support – Fax Server 9.4 supports Active Directory 2008; Works with Vista; Certified on Windows 2003; 32-bit client applications are supported on the x64 editions of Windows XP and Windows Vista; Connector for Exchange 2007 supports Windows Server 2008 Standard x64 and Enterprise x64.

 

6.     Enhanced fax over IP support –T.38 FoIP/V.34 endpoint, T.38 FoIP/V.34 gateway. Fax over IP environments with a multi-router topology may configure Fax Server 9.4 (via dialing rules) for real-time FoIP fail-over. When the primary FoIP router or gateway is unavailable or times out, faxes are automatically routed to a secondary router or gateway.

 

7.     Improved OCR performance New robust RecoStar OCR engine provides improved OCR performance via the Captaris Conversion Engine. Output text quality has been improved supporting a wider range of font types and sizes as well as more than 15 languages.

 

8.     Improved client and email options More feature-rich client tools and email integrations improve usability while providing end users greater control, management and tracking capabilities. Highlights:

·         Drag and drop to create a fax

·         Ability to include a copy of the fax with notifications

·         Improved language selection with Web access

·         New inbox sorting, searching and filtering options
